Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Lue Virsey Webb Peebles, age 93, of Adrian, on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 30, at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Oliver officiating. The family received friends one hour before service on Tuesday, January 30, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Pallbearers were Andy Webb, Joseph Webb, Tim Schaaf, Dustin Simmons, T.J. Schaaf and Jack Webb. Mrs. Lue Virsey was born in Johnson County to Joseph and Sydney Odum Webb. As an Adrian resident, she worked at Argo Mills for 37 years and was a supervisor. She also worked at Delores and Woody’s for several years and was an amazing seamstress. People would come from near and far to have her alter their clothes. She had a wonderful sense of humor and did an excellent impersonation of Minnie Pearl. Lue loved to travel with her grandchildren and was a terrific cook. Mrs. Lue attended and was a member of Adrian Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dorsey Peebles; a son, Dorsey Steve Peebles; two sisters, Onnie Lee Giles and Essie Mae Brantley; three brothers, Ernie, Ellie and Ellis Webb.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Gail Hutcheson of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Kristen R. Watkins (Robert) of Rincon, Lane Underwood (Jody) of Twin City and Brian Peebles (Mary) of Augusta; great-grandchildren, Gabby Watkins, Gavin Watkins, Raven Watkins, Judson Underwood and Ava Underwood; several nieces, nephews and extended family; sister-in-law, Joanne James of Augusta.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Emanuel County Nursing Home and to Pruitt Health Hospice for all of the loving care given to Mrs. Lue Virsey.
