On June 13, Swainsboro native, Katie Griswold, received news that all her dedicated, hard work, had ultimately paid off. Griswold, a homeschool student through the Georgia Connections Academy, was enjoying her summer break when the families mail came in and she opened a letter addressed to her. The document was from The National Society of High School Scholars, and it announced that she had been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization.

The society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and community commitment. It also grants a pathway to academic excellence at the high school level and helps to advance the goals and aspirations of high-achieving students through unique learning experiences, scholarships, internships, international study, and peer networks. The announcement was made by NSHSS Co-founder and President James W. Lewis:

“On behalf of NSHSS and our co-founder Claes Nobel, a member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes, I am honored to recognize the hard work, passion and commitment that Katie Griswold has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence,” said Lewis. “Katie is now a member of a unique community of Scholars – a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”

The program aims to provide a lifetime membership to young scholars to support their growth and development. They help students like Griswold contribute to their academic success by connecting them with learning experiences and resources to help prepare them for college and meaningful careers. NSHSS members automatically become lifetime members at the time of their initial membership. So, from this point forward, Griswold will be connected to all the resources that she needs to develop her strength and pursue her passions.

Dancer, singer, and now one of the nation’s top scholars - congratulations Katie for this esteemed honor, we know that you are going to change the world with your brilliance!
