Dear Editor,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the individuals who recently came to the aid of Bruce King during a medical emergency.

A special thank you goes to Melinda Wilkerson and Angie Overstreet at Swainsboro City Hall; Lieutenant Allen Farley, Firefighter Faith Jones, Firefighter Justin Williams and Theresa Womack with the Swainsboro Fire Department; Emanuel County EMS; and Monica Boynton, Corinthia Smith and Santonio Worthen.

On Tuesday, July 5, Mr. Bruce went to City Hall to pay his water bill when he became disoriented and was not able to respond appropriately. The people listed above acted quickly, going above and beyond to make sure he got the help he needed. We later found out that he was suffering from dehydration due to the extreme temperatures our area has been experiencing.

Thankfully, Mr. King is doing well now.

This incident was a great example of the caring spirit and teamwork that make Emanuel County such a special place to live. When someone needed help, people from different departments and walks of life came together without hesitation.

As we continue through the hot summer months, please remember to limit your time in the extreme heat and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

Thank you again to everyone who helped.

Shon Corley
