Dear Editor,

I write today to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Lillie Brown on her recent election as Mayor of our beloved city of Swainsboro, Georgia. This victory marks a momentous occasion — as Mrs. Brown becomes not only the first woman to hold this office, but also the first Black individual to do so in our city’s history.

Her achievement signals hope and affirmation for all residents of Swainsboro. It speaks to the progress our community is making towards inclusion and representation, and it reminds us that leadership comes in many forms and from all corners of our city. Mrs. Brown’s dedication, character, and willingness to serve are qualities we can all admire and support.

As she prepares to assume the responsibilities of mayor, I believe the entire community stands with her. We look forward to the vision she brings: collaborating with citizens, strengthening our neighborhoods, promoting economic opportunity, and ensuring that every resident’s voice is heard and valued.

Mayor-elect Brown’s journey sets an inspiring example — especially for young girls and young people of color in Emanuel County — that they too can aspire to serve and lead. Her election is not just a milestone for her personally, but a milestone for all of Swainsboro.

Congratulations again, Mrs. Brown. I wish you wisdom, strength, and success as you begin this new chapter of leadership. May your term be marked by growth, unity, and progress for our city.

Sincerely,

Dianna Wedincamp

Lifelong Resident of Emanuel County
