It was my first trip back to Swainsboro in quite a while. For some time, I had promised to show my daughter the hometown she has heard so much about. A lot has changed since I graduated from Swainsboro High School 65 years ago. I was so proud to see how good everything looks especially

the town square, the new businesses and even my old home, 321 West Main, which my parents built in 1940. The best part was how friendly and kind everyone was to us. A very special thank you goes to three gentlemen - Dess Smith, who has been a friend since childhood, Police Chief Ashley Riner and Emanuel County Sheriff Jeff Brewer. They all played a part in rescuing us after mistakenly locking the car with everything inside while we were at the cemetery visiting my family's plot and were helpless until they arrived within minutes.

We enjoyed touring around and enjoyed a delightful dinner at The Stockyard. We couldn't see everything, so we are already planning a return trip.
