On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Lawrence Wadley, Sr. departed this life in the care of Wellstar MCG Health Medical team in Augusta following an extended illness. A Homecoming Celebration was held Saturday, February 28, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Chales Holloway officiating and Rev. Wilbert Kennedy presiding.
Lawrence was born December 21, 1942, in Baxley, to the late Claude and Jessie Mae Wadley. He worked for many years at Handi-House, but being a carpenter was who he was at heart. Lawrence loved building things and planting gardens and seeing the results of a job well done. Lawrence loved his wife, children and grandchildren who brought him his greatest happiness. Mr. Wadley is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 57 years, Mary Greene Wadley; son, Lawrence Wadley, Jr.; daughter-in-law; two brothers; and one nephew.
Mr. Wadley leaves to cherish his memories with his daughters, Cheryl (Tommy) Daniels, Valarie Wadley (Londray) and Allisyn Wadley (Jamie); son, Keith Wadley (Kim) of Swainsboro; two grandsons he helped raise, Kentrel Wadley and Ronyae Sanders; six sisters; two brothers; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
