The Swainsboro Lady Tigers continued their strong start to the season this past weekend, earning a dominant win over Treutlen before falling in a hard fought, playoff style battle against Jenkins High out of Savannah. With the split, the Lady Tigers now sit at (2-1) on the season.

On Friday, December 5, the Lady Tigers controlled every part of their matchup with Treutlen, earning an impressive 87 to 13 victory. Swainsboro’s defense set the tone early, forcing turnovers, pushing the pace, and converting nearly every opportunity into points. It was a complete team effort, and the Lady Tigers handled Treutlen with confidence and focus from the opening tip.

Head Coach Alexandria Walden praised her team’s energy, sharing that the group continues to grow in chemistry and execution each night they step on the court.

Saturday, December 6, brought one of the most exciting atmospheres of the season as Swainsboro hosted Jenkins High out of Savannah. Coach Walden and her staff knew coming in that this would be a true test for the Lady Tigers, a measuring stick to show what kind of team they have at this stage of the season. The game lived up to every expectation, with intensity that felt more like a playoff matchup.

The Lady Tigers held the lead for most of the game, fueled by sparks from Millie Kingsbury, KK Murphy, Kimya Freeman, and Mckinley Walden, who each delivered key moments that kept Swainsboro in front. Their contributions brought energy to The Den as both teams traded momentum throughout the night.

Despite Swainsboro’s strong showing and the atmosphere inside The Den, Jenkins was able to pull away late, handing the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season with a 70 to 58 final. At the time of printing, individual player stats were not available. Coach Walden emphasized that although the loss is tough, games like this are valuable in shaping the team’s identity and preparing them for the challenges that lie ahead in region play.

This week, Swainsboro will return home for two important region matchups. On Thursday, December 12 at 6 p.m., the Lady Tigers will take on Vidalia, last year’s region champions. Coach Walden and her staff view this as another major measuring stick to see how tough the Lady Tigers will be in region competition. Then on Friday, December 13 at 5 p.m., Swainsboro will host Jefferson County as part of a schedule switch, with the rematch set for January 17.

Fans attending both games will also be able to enjoy the annual Tigers Fish Fry, with fresh fish plates available at the concession stand each night.

Coach Walden and the Lady Tigers encourage the community to come out, show their support, and pack out The Den as region play begins. With a strong early season record and valuable lessons learned, the Lady Tigers are determined and ready for the next stage of their journey.
