The Kiwanis Club participated as a civic club at the Annual Juneteenth Program at the Boneyard. There were lots of vendors and great performances, and a great family event. The Kiwanis Club members met lots of future members and their families. The club gave out gardening packets that included a chocolate Minit plant for the little ones to plant along with books and materials on how to help our local honeybees population grow. The kids also got their own tools for gardening. Kiwanis was sure to have plenty of sweets to give away. The rain held off for all the festivities and the band was fabulous. Mrs. Syvetta Young, Mayor Lillie Brown and NAACP President Kenny Griffin educated the crowd on the importance to the day and why celebrating Juneteenth is important to everyone and enjoyed the day. We welcome anyone who would like to join Swainsboro Kiwanis Club of Emanuel County to contact Dianna Wedincamp by messenger or email wedincampdianna@yahoo.com. The club meets 1st and 3rd Tuesday at the local library and the 4th Tuesday at 12 p.m. Our gardening packets and honeybees’ materials were made possible by the Mill Creek Foundation. A special thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to join our Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
