Keep Emanuel Beautiful (KEB) is proud to introduce its Beautiful Business of the Month Award, a new recognition program designed to celebrate local businesses that take exceptional care of their properties and contribute to the overall appearance and pride of Emanuel County.
The inaugural award is presented to Cadle Law Firm, recognized for its consistently clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully landscaped property.
The business at 130 South Main Street in Swainsboro was selected by vote of the KEB board in the fall following a nomination by board member and Emanuel County representative Jim Sherrod. At the request of the business owner, the public announcement and photo presentation were intentionally delayed to allow for additional aesthetic improvements to the property.
KEB members and Cadle Law Firm staff finally gathered on December 29 to mark the occasion.
“This was an easy nomination for me,” said Sherrod. “When we first started talking about creating this award, Cadle Law Firm was always at the front of my mind. Jerry keeps his property clean, well-manicured, and cared for year-round. I’ve never gone by there with so much as a twig out of place, and I’d expect nothing less from someone as involved in his community as he is.”
The Beautiful Business of the Month Award is based on criteria such as overall cleanliness, landscaping, exterior upkeep, and other beautification efforts that positively impact the surrounding area. Businesses are nominated during KEB’s monthly meetings through a motion-and-second process, followed by a board vote.
KEB Chair Tony Hutcheson said the new award was intentionally designed to mirror the spirit of a similar program in the community.
“We’re excited to introduce this award and see it take shape,” Hutcheson said. “We envisioned it to complement the long-standing Yard of the Month ran by one of our local garden clubs for residences. We thought that was a great program and we certainly don’t want to take away from it; if anything, we hope this adds to the type of celebratory opportunities here at home. We know lots of people look forward to getting that Yard of the Month sign because they work hard on their properties and take a lot of pride in them. We hope our award will do the same for our businesses.”

KEB meetings are open to the public and held on the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 PM at Franklin Memorial Library. There are no dues to participate, only a willingness to help keep Emanuel County clean, attractive, and welcoming.
