The Karrh Center in downtown Swainsboro is taking another exciting step in its ongoing renovation. The frame for the theatre’s new marquee has been installed, signaling progress on a project that will soon bring a fresh, vibrant presence to North Green Street.

Since reopening, the Karrh Center—housed in the historic former Dixie Theatre—has welcomed audiences for movies and even hosted a live performance, quickly establishing itself as a cultural hub in the heart of downtown. The upcoming marquee will build on that momentum, honoring the theater’s historic charm while adding a modern, eye-catching feature for both residents and visitors.

The theatre team is scheduled to meet with the sign company later this week to get an update on the progress of the marquee construction.

While a precise timeline has not yet been determined, the team is optimistic that installation will happen soon.

“We’re thrilled to see this next phase taking shape. The marquee will be a bright new symbol of arts and culture in downtown Swainsboro,” said Downtown Development Authority Director, Melissa Kirby.

Once complete, the marquee will light up North Green Street, creating a landmark that reflects the Karrh Center’s role in downtown’s ongoing revitalization. Community members are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as this signature feature takes shape, marking yet another milestone in the theatre’s journey to enrich arts, culture, and entertainment in Swainsboro.
