Judge Wilkes announces plans for retirement

Emanuel County Probate Judge Don Wilkes announced that he will not seek re-election. Judge Wilkes shared that he plans to retire at the end of this term which is December 31, 2024. He will have served as Emanuel County Probate Judge for 22 years at the end of this term. Wilkes was first elected to the position in September 2002 to fill the unexpired term of the Honorable Probate Judge Roberta Cross. “It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve the people of Emanuel County, and I am grateful for the opportunity the citizens have given me.,” stated Judge Wilkes.

Although Wilkes says he knows he will miss serving the public in this role, he is looking forward to retirement. He plans to spend more time with his family…especially his four grandchildren – Tate, Mae Elizabeth, Wilkes and Anne Winfield.
