State School Superintendent Richard Woods has announced that Halli Kate Johnson, a junior at Emanuel County Institute, has been selected to join the 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council. She is one of 69 students chosen from across the state. Superintendent Woods will meet with Halli Kate and other council members throughout the year to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom. As a council member, Halli Kate will provide valuable feedback to Superintendent Woods and his Georgia Department of Education colleagues, helping them make decisions that directly impact the classroom.

“Halli Kate Johnson is the epitome of a dedicated student,” said ECI Principal Anetria Edenfield, noting that she is very active in all aspects of her educational career at ECI, which will benefit her experience as a member of the State School Superintendent's Student Advisory Board. “This will give her the opportunity to provide a voice for our student population. She will be able to share perceptions and ideas that help impact the decisions that affect students. We are excited for Halli Kate and are very confident that she will work hard in this position.”
