James Kenneth Walker, age 64, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Waynesboro, due to injuries sustained in a tragic accident. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the Swainsboro High School Auditorium with burial following in the Hagan Cemetery in Hagan, GA. Viewing will be held Friday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home in Metter.
James Kenneth Walker, lovingly known as Kent, was born October 11, 1961, in Tarrytown, to James Walker and Bobbie Jean Guyton. He was a member of the 1978 graduating class of Swainsboro High School. Kent was a loving and devoted father and family man. He enjoyed family gatherings, and times with friends.
Having a strong work ethic, Kent always took any and every employment seriously. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Emanuel Medical Center in environmental services. At this job, Kent exhibited outstanding commitment and drive. Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his wife, Carilena Walker; son, Kencerio Walker, who perished along with him in the accident; and since his death, brother, Marvin Lee Johnson, Jr. who passed away May 27, 2026.
Mr. Walker leaves to cherish his memory with his daughters, Latoya Walker, Shardee Walker, Kendra Walker, all of Metter and Ja’dasha Williams of Claxton; son, Tyler Walker of Swainsboro; six granddaughters; four grandsons; six brothers; five sisters; and several nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends.
