Mr. James “Jimmy” Ivey, age 72, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, at 11 a.m. at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Dollar and Rev. Burton Dixon officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Friday, September 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Pratt Scott, Jr., Bruce Ivey, Brandon Taylor, Joe Tusa, Brandon Wiggins, and Jay Foskey. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Fortner, Wayne Herringdine, Sonny Norris, Eddie Henry, and the Johnson County Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Ivey was born May 20, 1951, in Dublin, to the late George and Annette Claxton Ivey. He was a member of Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer, a founding member of the Minton Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and served as Past President of the Kite Jaycees. Mr. Ivey had a successful 40 plus year career in the manufacturing industry from manufacturing insulators, air conditioner units to refrigerated trailers. He was a devoted husband for 52 years, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Ivey is preceded in death by his parents; and a great-grandchild baby, Lane Taylor.

Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife, Vicki Ivey of Kite; daughter, Denise Wombles (Shawn) of Wrightsville; son, Todd Ivey (Danielle) of Kite; sisters, Sandra Anderson of Kite, Judy Scott (Joel) of Wrightsville and Lisa Troup (Chris) of Pendelton, SC; brother, Nick Ivey (Diane) of Kite; five grandchildren, Jessie Tusa (Joe), Hannah Taylor (Brandon), Rhett Wombles, Barett Wombles and Chance Wombles; and five great-grandchildren, Christian Tusa, Eli Taylor, Jase Taylor, Madison Taylor and Declan James Tusa.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 176, Kite, GA 31049.

Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville was in charge of arrangements.
