James Albert Collins, 78, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Augusta University. The funeral service was held Saturday, November 12, at 11 a.m. at Metter First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Osborne officiating. Interment followed in Lake Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, November 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Metter First Baptist Church.

Mr. Collins was the son of Albert and Minnie Hadden Collins. He was a graduate of Metter High School and worked at Pineland Telephone until he retired in 2005. James always had a garden because he loved to give to others. He loved the outdoors and sports. James loved to attend his grandchildren’s events and kept up with Brad’s team that he coached. He was a member of Metter First Baptist Church and loved attending the Andrew Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Hazel Collins; his second wife, Betty Collins; brother, Jerry Lee Collins; sister-in-law, Delilah Collins; and brother-in-law, Rufus Marsh.

Surviving are his sons, Bradley Collins (Misty) and Bryson Collins (Kelly); step-daughter, Alisa Stockov (Joe); step-son, Alf Wimberly (Kristy); grandchildren, Harrison Collins, Cason Collins, Hayes Collins, Avery Lane Collins, Jake and Luke Stockov and Allison Wimberly; brother, Jessie Ray Collins; sister, Mary Lou Marsh; sister-in-law, Brenda Collins; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sonya Durden.
