In every thing, give thanks

Posted

As we approach the Season of giving thanks some may ask when, where and how do we give thanks? . In I Thessalonians 5:18 Paul tells the church, “ In all things give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. “

You may ask, “ How can I give thanks while going through some great challenges in my life?” Remember or know that again Paul tells the church in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose.”

So know that while you may be grieving losses in your life, tell God how you feel. Also, thank him for allowing you to share the love. Yes, this season with joy also brings back some shared memories of loved ones.

I even find myself reflecting on great losses in this season. As I lost a sister and a brother, at a young age, in a tragic accident one week before Christmas, yet I give God praise. It didn't happen immediately but through the tears and pain, I found the strength and will to praise God and give him thanks. I got my help and encouragement from the Word of God.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 says, “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the field shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength,...”

So give thanks through the really hard times because it is God's will through Jesus Christ our Lord. Just thank him for carrying your burdens and bringing you through. Not for all things but in all things, no matter what you are in, give him thanks. Psalms 34
