Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Imogene S. Riner,  87, of Swainsboro, on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Graveside services were held Saturday, November 14 at 3 PM in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Tanner Turley officiating, assisted by Rev. Casey Shaw. The family received friends at the cemetery from 2 PM until time of service. CDC social distancing guidelines were observed and masks were encouraged.

Pallbearers were Bobby Mason, Ashley Riner, Len Johnson, Jeff Riner, Joe Riner, Grayson Riner, Eric Hammock, Jamie Oglesby, and Randy Riner. Honorary escorts were the Agape Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Riner was born October 23, 1933 in Swainsboro to the late Lonnie and Mary Hall Smith. She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Swainsboro High School. Mrs. Riner was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Riner enjoyed being outdoors, growing fruits and vegetables, canning that food for her family, and taking care of the many flowers she grew. She gladly shared her blueberries and pecans with family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predecded by her husband, Frank Riner; sisters, Ruth Hunter, Louise McKamey, and Jemira Lyerla; brothers, J.W. Hammock, Ernest Hammock, and Harry Hammock; sons-in-law, Lee Butler and Joey Harris.

Survivors include daughters, Judy Riner Butler (Joe Blankenbaker) of Waynesboro and Beverly Riner Harris of Thomasville; son, Richard Riner (Kim) of Statesboro; sisters, Demaris Gay of Augusta and Sallie Plaspohl of Pooler; sister-in-law, Emily Mason of Swainsboro; brother-in-law, Hollis Riner of Dublin; grandchildren, Kimberly Nix (Kealon), Marsha Turley (Tanner), Olivia Riner, and Alannah Riner; great-grandchildren, Harris Nix, Kate Nix, Parker Turley, Kesed Turley, Jordyn Turley, and Titus Turley.
