The Georgia Mobile Dairy Classroom visited Swainsboro Primary School to offer kindergarten students an engaging, hands-on educational experience. The mobile classroom included a working milking parlor and a live Jersey dairy cow named Maggie. Students observed feeding and milking demonstrations and learned about milk production, processing, and the health benefits of dairy products.
The visit supported the completion of the Amplify: Animals on the Farm unit, in which students study animal classification based on features such as appearance, size, movement, and habitat. The dairy classroom allowed students to connect classroom concepts to real-world experiences. The instructor discussed milk-based foods, the nutrients in dairy products, and the importance of including dairy in a healthy diet. The interactive presentation deepened students’ understanding of agriculture and nutrition while reinforcing classroom science concepts.
The Georgia Mobile Dairy Classroom visit offered a memorable learning experience and enhanced students’ understanding of food origins and their role in supporting health.
