At the regular meeting of the Swainsboro Exchange Club on Tuesday, January 20, the club was honored to welcome Georgia Exchange Club District Director Division 12, Milton Sampson, who attended the meeting as a special guest. Member Billy Chapman introduced guest speaker Elizabeth Gilmer, who shared information about the operation and mission of the Summertown Food Pantry.
Gilmer explained that the Summertown Food Pantry serves as a partner agency of Golden Pantry Food Bank. Through this partnership, the two organizations work together to meet the needs of neighbors in the community who are experiencing food insecurity.
The Summertown Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a nine-member board of directors. Its mission is centered on providing assistance to individuals and families in need, ensuring that no neighbor goes hungry.
Gilmer noted that the pantry operates on the fourth Saturday of each month in Summertown, offering food and support to those who rely on its services. She emphasized the importance of community involvement and partnerships in sustaining the pantry’s work and continuing to serve those in need.
Members of the Exchange Club expressed appreciation for the informative presentation and for the vital role the Summertown Food Pantry plays in the local community.
