Recently, Franklin Memorial Library was blessed by one such act of kindness when a local patron, after winning a $100 in The Forest-Blade Easter Egg Hunt contest, chose to give that back to the community. Rather than keeping all the contest winnings, Nancy Williams made the heartfelt decision to donate $50 to the library's Summer Reading Program ("SRP"). The Summer Reading Program encourages patrons of all ages to explore new stories, strengthen their reading skills, and discover the joy of learning during the summer months. Each patron is asked to complete a challenge in their age group or grade level, reading a number of books will help them achieve their goals. To add adventure, fun and literature learning to our program, we offer performances from different performers across the state of Georgia. We also include incentives as a reward to our patron’s achievements. Because of this donation, more patrons will have access to books, crafts, and Georgia performers that inspire imagination and expand their education. It is an investment not only in literacy but in the future of our community. Support from community members like this ensures that the program continues to grow and reach even more families. For those who feel inspired to give, the library warmly welcomes donations of any amount to support the Summer Reading Program. Every contribution, big or small, helps provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn, grow, and fall in love with reading. As we look ahead to another summer filled with stories, laughter, and discovery, we are reminded that sometimes the greatest stories are not found on the shelves, but in the hearts of those who choose to give.
