Swainsboro High School senior, Jonorian Foots, signed a letter of intent to continue his football and

academic career at Georgia Tech on National Signing Day, February 1.

Jonorian is a four-year starter for the Tigers who held a variety of linebacker positions on both offense and defense. Assistant Coach Morgan Jersey has seen tremendous growth from him over the years and is proud of his success. “He has the ability to understand our defensive scheme, make all the calls and adjustments we might need and be able to perform his job at an extremely high level no matter what position he is playing.” In addition, says Jersey, “His size, strength, and speed development has been a great part of his success.”

Throughout the stellar state runner-up 2022 season, Jonorian received many accolades that prove he is a true asset to athletics at SHS. He was named Region 2AA Division 1 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned spots on the GPB All Finals Team, Atlanta Journal-Constitution Class A Division 1 All-State Team, and Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State South Team. Head Coach Scott Roberts says, “He’s done everything we’ve asked of him and more. I just cannot say enough good things about him. He’s a great football player but an even better person.” Roberts continues, “We are excited to celebrate this opportunity he has worked hard for and very much deserves.”

Jonorian has made a name for himself off the field as well. He is an honor roll student and has been

named student of the month numerous times in his classes as well as for Emanuel County Schools as a whole. Math teacher Cindy Riner says, “He is not just great on the field; he is an exceptional student in the classroom.” Economics teacher Angela Hooks agrees. “He’s polite, attentive, and focused on his work. He sits in the front row and though he doesn’t say much, you know he’s there, and he’s learning.” A ceremony was held in the SHS Media Center to celebrate Jonorian’s achievement. He was joined by immediate and extended family members, including his mother Kenosha Brown, father Lynn Foots, great-grandmother Juanita Worthen, sisters Tra’Myra Brown and Oshayonna Daughtry, brother Kingston Brown, and many others. Also present were football and wrestling coaches, football team members, SHS administrators, current and former teachers, community members, and Emanuel County Schools central office staff.
