Following a family legacy in healthcare

For Bailey Stevens, pursuing a career in healthcare is more than a professional goal-it is a path that has been shaped by family, education, and a desire to eventually give back to her hometown.

Stevens, the daughter of Arlie Stevens, owner of Our Town Healthcare, is currently continuing her education at the University of North Georgia. She already holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Georgia Southern University and has also completed a certified medical assistant program through Georgia Southern.

Her decision to attend the University of North Georgia was partly influenced by family and a desire for a change of scenery.

“I have a cousin who lives up there,” Stevens said. “I just miss being in the city.”

With friends also living in the area, Stevens saw the opportunity to experience a new environment while continuing her education.

Although she is currently away at school, Stevens has plans to eventually return home and follow in her mother’s footsteps in the healthcare field.

Growing up with a mother who thrives in the healthcare business has given Stevens a firsthand look at what it takes to serve patients and be a part of the community. That experience has helped shape her own aspirations for the future.

Her goal is to bring the education and experience she gains away from home back to the community that helped shape her.

For Stevens, returning home would mean more than simply beginning a career. It would give her the opportunity to continue a family legacy while building one of her own.

With a background in biology, additional training as a certified medical assistant and continues education at the University of North Georgia, Stevens is preparing for the next step-one that could ultimately bring her back home to work alongside her mother and continue serving the community through healthcare.
