A year is divided into four very different seasons. Each season has its own special joy to offer. September one, we said farewell to summer and were ready to enjoy the changes and pleasures of autumn. A new school year starts for students and faculty. Learning and activities begin. Changes are happening which make Fall Fun. The weather is comfortable and changes gradually to needing new clothes, sweaters, jackets, warm pants. New outfits are one of the pleasures. Tree leaves begin to dry and change their colors to orange, red and brown before falling to the ground. This is nature ‘s display of color. Autumn gets the name Fall when leaves are raked into piles of color. Raking is not a Joy. Days begin to grow shorter. This begins the pleasure of a warm home, and dinner of tasty warm soup, Indoor games are entertaining and time to spend with family. Much football is watched at games or on TV. The last Thursday in November gives us the beloved day to give thanks for our many blessings.
We sit with our loved ones around a table filled by a roasted turkey and all the trimmings. Nothing is as spectacular as Tom Turkey with dressing and cranberry sauce. A Happy Thanksgiving is filled to the brim with love.
I choose Fall to my favorite season. Add reading a good book sitting cozy by the fireplace on the first night when I hear the crackle. I will continue to look forward to the joy of fall—until I bring out the Christmas decorations. Write to Shirley at sptwiss@gmail.com.
