Mrs. Emily Riner Mason, 92, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Emanuel County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 5, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Chapman Funeral home with Reverend Louis Pearce officiating. The family received friends Tuesday, September 5, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her nephews.

Mrs. Mason was born September 6, 1930, to the late Edgar R. Riner and Sallie Lawson Riner. She attended Swainsboro High School and Perry Business College. Mrs. Mason was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, Agape Sunday School Class, and also a member of the David Emanuel Chapter DAR. She was the first lady to solo and get her flying license in Emanuel County. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, and traveling. Mrs. Mason is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James B. Mason; brothers, Ulys Riner, Frank Riner, Talmadge Riner, and Alford Riner.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Mamie) Mason of Townsend, Bobby Mason and Bill Mason, both of Swainsboro; brother, Hollis Riner of Dublin; a host of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
