Emanuel Retired Educators meet

Posted

The Emanuel Retired Educators Association recently held its January meeting at Swainsboro Elementary School on January 21. President Toney Golden welcomed members and called the meeting to order. Swainsboro Elementary School Assistant Principal Rachel Burkhalter welcomed the group and shared some of the many exciting things happening at SES. An invocation was given by Dr. John Derden and members enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Swainsboro Elementary lunchroom and served by Swainsboro Elementary students.

Following the meal, Mike Zaram from the Teacher Retirement System gave an update.

One of the group’s service projects is to donate school supplies to the host school at each meeting. A variety of supplies were presented to Mrs. Burkhalter. Donuts were provided earlier in the day to the school staff as part of the Georgia Retired Educators Treats for Teachers program. The group continues to support the Sunshine Advocacy Center at each meeting. EREA also supports the Georgia Retired Educators Association project, Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

EREA wishes to thank Swainsboro Elementary School administrators and staff for the warm hospitality they extended to the group. The next EREA meeting is set for Wednesday, February 18 at Twin City Elementary School. TCE students will provide the program.
