The Emanuel Resource Center (ERC) was founded in 2016, when Governor Nathan Deal started a pilot program at Emanuel Medical Center (EMC) to improve the overall health of chronic care patients in rural hospitals. Mrs. Juanita Porter worked with patients in the program and quickly recognized the many needs of those in our community, as well as the opportunity to minister to them.
Since then, the ERC has grown through additional volunteers and increased community involvement, and it has obtained 501(c)(3) status. Its mission is to share the love of Christ with others by meeting needs and providing basic goods and services to those in need in our community. These needs often include medical supplies, couches, mattresses, appliances, clothes, and kitchen items.
The ERC recently received a grant from the Mill Creek Foundation, and we are thankful for the foundation’s generosity. The grant will help fund the ERC’s mission. One item it has allowed us to provide is wheelchairs, which will help meet the daily needs of people with mobility issues.
If you have gently used items to donate, would like to make a monetary donation, or would like to receive assistance, please contact Mrs. Juanita Porter at 478-289-3196.
