Emanuel County Schools Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council

Posted

Students from Emanuel County Institute, Swainsboro High School, and Swainsboro Middle School recently attended a districtwide Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council meeting at the Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center.

Dr. Denise Warnock welcomed the students and thanked them for serving as advisors and liaisons between their schools and district leadership. The council gives students a direct voice in district discussions and decisions.

Students began the meeting by introducing themselves and sharing a personal trait that best described them. This activity helped build connections and encouraged open discussion.

Students learned about their role in Emanuel County Schools’ Cognia accreditation process. Dr. Warnock led a discussion on how student input supports key accreditation areas, including purpose and direction, governance and leadership, teaching and assessment, and resources and support systems.

The council discussed an upcoming district service project, “Reading is Leadership in Action.” Through this initiative, students will read leadership-focused books to elementary students, modeling responsibility and positive leadership. Students were also asked to share feedback from their schools, including what they like most and least, and suggestions for improvement. This input will help guide future district planning and decisions.

Dr. Warnock thanked the students for their thoughtful participation and leadership, emphasizing the importance of student voice as Emanuel County Schools remains committed to growth and continuous improvement.
