During the annual meeting of the Georgia School Board Association-Risk Management Services (RMS) held in Athens in October, the recipients of the 2023-2024 Safety Grants were announced.

Over 50 applications were received this year, and a total grant sum of $60,000.00 was awarded. Emanuel County Schools was fortunate to be one of the recipients. Mrs. Chandra Hooks, ECS Executive Director of Nutrition, submitted the grant proposal to purchase slip-resistant shoes and wet floor signs to prevent slips, trips, and falls. The $4,160.06 grant will make cafeterias and kitchens safer for Emanuel County Schools. ECS appreciates GSBA-RMS and its dedication to supporting safety measures in local school systems.

GSBA Risk Management Services provides group-self-insurance plans covering workers' compensation, property, and liability risks to protect their members. The organization works closely with Georgia's public-school systems, extending beyond conventional insurance brokerage services. They focus on building relationships and offering training and information to facilitate successful risk management.
