Emanuel County Schools recognized district-level and First District RESA winners of the Young Georgia Authors Competition at the March Board of Education meeting. This annual statewide contest for students in grades K-12 celebrates student writing, encourages creativity, and recognizes achievement in the arts and academics. Students submit original works, including poetry, short stories, and essays, which are judged on ideas, organization, and effective language use.

Kindergarten: Paxton Gordon, Super Powers
1st Grade: Sawyer Edenfield, Jack and Chief Detective Friends
2nd Grade: Ellie Rountree, My Best Trip Ever! (2nd Place, First District RESA)
Swainsboro Elementary School
3rd Grade: Angelina Rodrigues, George McFly’s Big School Adventure (2nd Place, First District RESA)
5th Grade: Elyce Gunn, Queen of the Crows
Twin City Elementary School
4th Grade: Danni Lynn Williamson, The Path to Heaven (3rd Place, First District RESA)

6th Grade: Nora Johnson, The Great Mouse Misconduct (3rd Place, First District RESA)
7th Grade: Ezekiel C. Pague, The Ballad of John Stevinson
