Elyce Gunn has written and published a children’s chapter book titled Bentley and the Snow Day. Elyce is a fifth grader at Swainsboro Elementary School.
As an avid equestrian, Elyce enjoys horses and farm life. She has taken riding lessons for six years but has loved horses her whole life. She also participates in dressage shows and equitation classes. She is currently teaching her pony, BlueBelle, to pull a carriage.
When she decided to write, the subject matter was certain from the beginning! When she received a laptop for Christmas, she began the process of putting her ideas together. Elyce planned to use her imagination and write from the horse’s point of view.
Elyce says, “The story is based on an actual day in early 2025 when the horse farm and surrounding area received a light snowfall.” The story is based on actual horses in Elyce's life and every person and event in the story are real! When the snow fell and many crazy, weird, and special things happened, Elyce knew it was the perfect thing to write about.
The Franklin Memorial Library is holding a book signing on May 21, from 3:30 – 5:00. Copies of the book will be available. Come and meet the author and have your book signed. The book is also available on amazon.com.
Elyce is the daughter of Rachel and Beau Gunn. Carmen and Stephen Graham and Richard and Renae McNeely are her grandparents.
