Members of the East Georgia State College Men’s Tennis Team recently competed in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Tifton, Georgia, at ABAC. Along with EGSC, ABAC, Eastern Florida, Emory-Oxford, Coastal Alabama, Wallace State and USC-Sumter all completed in the event.

This was the first ever tennis competition that EGSC was a part of. Although the results weren’t what the team hoped for, the experience was priceless with each player facing international competitors.

Landon Goodman, Nathan Headrick, Henry Hobbs, and Jerry Williams each played two singles matches. The doubles teams of Henry Hobbs/Landon Goodman and Nathan Headrick/Jerry Williams also played two matches each.

Henry Hobbs had this to say about the experience, “This past weekend was one for the books. Previously, the most we ever saw from a tennis match was the second round of state playoffs in high school. We got further in high school than any previous team from our school. We considered ourselves privileged to be able to compete at that level. Now that we are in college, it is a whole new league. We are so honored and blessed to be around so many young talents that share our same passion. It truly is such a great opportunity to play for the East Georgia team and get the experiences that I wouldn’t get anywhere else.”

The EGSC Tennis team took the opportunity to determine what skills need to be refined.

They are back on the courts and are looking forward to competing again soon.
