The EDGE College and Career Academy Board of Directors met on March 18 to address governance training and workforce development initiatives.
Superintendent Dr. Denise Warnock led a training session to reinforce governance practices in accordance with Georgia law, including Open Records/Open Meetings Laws and Requirements. The session reviewed board members’ legal obligations, clarified individual and collective responsibilities, and stressed the need for consistent protocols to prevent issues and protect the district.
Dr. Warnock and EDGE Onsite Coordinator Chip Fleming presented plans for a proposed summer internship program. This initiative aims to strengthen Emanuel County’s workforce by connecting CTAE pathways and technical certificate completion with practical work experience and industry mentorship. The program will equip students with relevant skills, direct exposure to employers, and opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in professional settings. “By aligning classroom learning with hands-on opportunities, we are preparing students for success beyond graduation while strengthening our local workforce,” Fleming said.
EDGE College & Career Academy, a partnership between Emanuel County Schools and Southeastern Technical College, continues to expand student opportunities through industry certifications, dual enrollment, and hands-on training. The proposed internship program will build on these efforts.
