July 17

Deputy responded to Odomville Rd. in reference to an unwanted person. Deputy met with complainant who stated she is the caretaker of offender another subject and has been staying with them for about four weeks. C/p stated offender suffers from Alzheimer’s and has become increasingly irate towards her and her father and that the offender has been upset because they will not allow her to drive because she is a danger to herself and other. C/p stated the other subject was released from the hospital and she has been taking care of him and offender because they are unable to care for themselves. Deputy spoke with offender who originally called to have c/p removed from the residence because she would not allow her to drive to the store. Deputy explained to offender why she was not allowed to drive to no avail. The other subject stated he did not want c/p to leave because they could not make it without her. When deputy told offender that he would not remove c/p from the residence, she stated she was “gonna get her”.

Deputy responded to Blun Rd. in reference to 911 receiving an emergency call that a vehicle was abandoned in the ditch. Deputy observed a vehicle abandoned in the ditch with an open bottle of Patron liquor inside and also observed that the dirt was spun up and appeared to be fresh which indicated the accident just occurred. Upon checking the license plate through GCIC, it was confirmed that the registered owner had an address on Blun Rd. Deputies traveled to the residence and made contact with the owner of the vehicle and she stated the driver swerved to miss a deer and struck the ditch. Deputy advised he needed to speak with the driver and she complied. The driver came out of the residence and deputy observed his pants were unbuckled and his clothing appeared to be slept in. His eyes were blood shot and watery and he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him. Deputy asked the driver if he had consumed any alcohol and he stated he drank some earlier, and he was unsteady on his feet. Deputy then asked the driver how the accident happened and he stated he tried to miss a deer and lost control and struck the ditch. The driver then stated that his neighbor will be pulling the vehicle out of the ditch and that everything was fine. Deputy explained that due to the fact that he left the scene and was under the influence of alcohol, more investigation would need to be done. The driver then stated he didn’t start drinking until he got home and his wife stated when she picked him up, he fell asleep in the bed. Deputy then asked the driver if he would be fine with providing a breath sample and he stated he would and provided two separate samples and the results were positive for alcohol of .225 and .257. Deputy explained to the driver that he was being arrested for DUI and was told to place his hands behind his back. The driver began to tense up and it appeared that he would try to resist but ultimately complied. While being placed in handcuffs, he stated that he just got out of jail and this would revoke his bond by going to jail. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail and while attempting to be booked, he became irate and refused to comply. He was told several times to calm down and refused and the jailer had to grab him and place him inside the holding cell.

Deputy received a report from complainant stated that her landlord evicted them two days ago and threw her belongings in the yard on Angela Dr. C/p also stated that the landlord had stolen a RV 15 amp plug that was connected to the camper. C/p advised that the landlord threatened her stating “I will do unspeakable things to you and make you pay for what you did”. C/p also advised the landlord turned the water and power off to their camper then made them leave the property. C/p stated the landlord has done the same to other tenants and makes the tenants bathe outside and advised that the septic on the property is backed up.

Deputies went to assist complainant with getting his belongings from Angela Dr.

Deputy stopped on Hwy 57 West to check on a broken-down motorist. The motorist stated she had a wrecker coming and her daughter was there to get her.

Deputy executed an Order to Apprehend on Odomville Church Rd. Contact was made with all parties and the victim was advised of the order and the reason for the order. Deputy helped the victim gather her portable oxygen tank and her pocketbook, then escorted her to his patrol unit and assisted in getting her in the back seat and fastened her seatbelt. Victim was transported to EMC ER for treatment and evaluation.

Deputy received a report from complainant stating he lost his wallet and wanted to report his GA firearms permit missing.

Deputy unlocked a vehicle on Victory Dr. with no damages.

July 18

Deputy responded to Hwy 23 North in reference to an alarm call that was cleared and secured.

Motorist was assisted with a locked vehicle on Carver St.

Deputies responded to Old Metter Rd. in reference to gunshots nearby. Deputies spoke with complainant who advised that he was outside and heard several shots coming from the neighbor’s house, through the horse pasture, and across his pond. Upon hearing the shots, he noticed a horse running from the neighbor’s direction. Deputies spoke with the neighbors, and they denied shooting.

Deputy responded to Piney Grove Rd. in reference to a report of abandoned dogs. Complainant and witness stated they have been feeding two dogs in the front yard of a residence that appears to be vacant due to fire damage. Animal Control arrived and loaded the dogs and transported them to the animal shelter. Offender’s stepfather arrived at the residence and was advised of the incident. He made contact with offender, and she was enroute to the residence. The stepfather advised that a little over a month ago, offender’s house caught fire and due to the damage, she was displaced from her home and was put in temporary housing from Red Cross. The stepfather then stated that Red Cross was unable to find housing that would support outside dogs. A Few minutes later, offender and a few other family members arrived and removed the two dog houses and took them to offender’s sister’s residence where they could be housed until offender could move back into her residence. Offender did show proof that the dogs were being tended to prior to being relocated and advised she had someone tending to them for her once a day. Offender was advised to have someone feed and water them twice a day due to extreme temperatures during the day.

July 19

Deputy met with complainant on Hwy 56 South in reference to a traffic related incident that was said to have occurred earlier that morning. C/p stated his wife struck a chemical spill in the road that left a white residue on her vehicle.

Deputy was dispatched to Kelley St. for a vehicle unlock. Vehicle was unlocked with no damages.

Deputy was dispatched to Chevron in reference to a one-year-old locked inside a vehicle. Vehicle was unlocked with no damages and the child was found to be okay.

Deputies arrived at Roadway Inn for the purpose of serving an outstanding warrant on offender. After not being able to locate offender, deputies spoke with the witness/offender’s girlfriend, who is an employee of Roadway Inn and asked if offender was at the location and she directed them to his room. After knocking on the door multiple times with no response, witness unlocked the door and allowed deputies in. Offender was not immediately located in the bedroom or bathroom and deputy observed the bed to appear as if someone had been laying in it and the room card was on the bedside table. The bed was lifted and offender was located hiding from deputies. He was taken into custody and transported to EmCo Jail.

Deputy responded to Old Swainsboro Rd. in reference to a fraud report. Complainant showed deputy a piece of mail from the IRS stating her tax claim was being withheld and stated she has not worked and received disability since 2022. C/p stated she spoke with a rep. on the phone who advised her to keep an eye on her credit report due to the fact that someone could try to buy stuff with her SS#. Deputy advised c/p to do the same and to also keep an eye on her bank account.

Deputy responded to Watson St. in reference to a locked vehicle. Vehicle was unlocked with no damages.

Deputy responded to Oak Grove Church Rd. in reference to a locked vehicle. Vehicle was unlocked with no damages.

Deputy responded to WalMart twice within an hour and a half in reference to locked vehicles. Vehicles were unlocked with no damages.

Victim stated someone broke int o his utility building and stole several items totaling appx. $390. Deputies talked to the neighbor across the street because she has a camera in her front window and she stated she would look through the video and let them know if she observed anything.

July 20

Emanuel County workers found a trailer abandoned in the middle of Ed Youmans Rd. and transported it to the EmCo Shop. Deputy moved the trailer to the impound yard and received a call a couple hours later from victim who stated he got stuck in the road and left his trailer there. Deputy advised victim he would talk to the investigator and see what he had to do to get his trailer back.

Deputy met with complainant at ECSO where she stated an employee of Durden Bank reached out to her in reference to a check for $4,500 typed out to a suspect that tried to cash it at Bank of America. C/p stated she called BOA to find out what branch the guy tried to cash it at but she was told that the Sheriff’s Office would have to call because they couldn’t release that info to her. No funds were released and c/p told the bank that her signature was not on the check and she doesn’t print out checks to people.

Deputies were dispatched to Beagle Rd. in reference to two 911 hang-up calls. 911 advised they attempted multiple times to call the number back but were unable to reach anyone. Upon arrival, deputy met with residents and was advised that all was well at the residence and 911 had been unintentionally called.

Deputy was dispatched to Wheeler Way for a burglary report.

July 21

Deputy responded to Lewis Rd. in reference to a vehicle damage. Complainant stated the top of a pine tree fell and landed on his vehicle, busting the back glass and left side window.

Motorist was assisted at Hickory Trace Apts. with a vehicle unlock.

Motorist was assisted at W. Moring St. Apts. with a vehicle unlock.

Deputies responded to Red Oak Rd. in reference to a domestic dispute. Complainant advised she and offender got into an argument and offender began hitting her in the face and when she tried to call 911, he took the phone and hung it up. Offender advised c/p was the one who hit him and the day prior, she cut him but admitted to hanging up the phone. C/p stated she did not want anything done to offender but she wanted to leave. Deputies stood by until c/p gathered her belongings and left with her cousin.

Deputy was called by 911 to do a welfare check on Angela Dr. Deputy spoke with both subjects who stated they were fine, then asked 911 to call the person back and let them know.

July 22

Deputy responded to Coleman House in reference to a locked vehicle. Vehicle was unlocked with no damages.

Deputies responded to Hwy 1 North in reference to vehicle damage. Deputies noticed the vehicle with damage and the rear window was busted. Complainant advised a car in another lane hit something in the road and it flew up and hit her car.

Deputy responded to Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church in reference to a damage report. Complainant advised she was inside cleaning and neighbors advised her that her vehicle was in the woods. Upon going outside, c/p discovered her vehicle had rolled out of the parking lot and across the road into a wooded area. C/p had shut the vehicle off and left it in drive.

July 23

Deputy responded to Sheriff’s Youth Home in reference to a burglary alarm. Staff advised it was set off accidentally.

Deputies responded to Hwy 1 South in reference to a domestic. Complainant and her mother advised c/p and offender share a child together and offender got home at 4 a.m. and had been drinking and stated accusing c/p of different things. C/p stated the two argued for a while and offender left and she went to sleep and was woke up at 6 a.m. by offender arguing again. C/p advised the incident got physical and offender punched her in the face with a closed fist and steel toe boot. C/p advised she was able to get outside and offender continued to punch her and dragged her through the yard. Offender then took off running into the woods when c/p was able to call for help. C/p had swelling to the right side of her face and was walking with a limp due to severe pain from the abuse but refused EMS. C/p removed her and the child’s property from the home and left with family. C/p advised she was going to the ER to be checked out. Deputies rode the area and made contact with offender’s brother and advised him to ell offender to turn himself in. Offender was seen by nearby neighbors, and they advised he was walking casually through the woods. Deputies then discovered the offender had an active warrant.

Deputies responded to Old Swainsboro Rd. in reference to a child locked in a car. Before arriving, dispatch notified deputies that the male busted the window and removed the child from the car.

Deputies responded to Petunia Rd. in reference to a back door motion alarm. Deputies noticed three dogs laying against the back door.
