According to the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office…

July 1

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hwy 1 South and Harrell Cemetery Rd. in reference to a cow and donkey in the roadway. Deputy met with the caller who advised they went into a nearby wooded area.

July 2

Deputies responded to Hwy 56 South in reference to assisting a mental crisis unit with a subject having a manic episode. Contact was made with the subject, and she was transported to EMC on a 10-13 order.

Deputy observed a vehicle traveling 78 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, at which time he attempted to initiate a traffic stop. When deputy turned around, he noticed the vehicle was not slowing down, so he quickly accelerated in an attempt to catch the vehicle, reaching speeds over 100 MPH. The vehicle made a right turn in front of the deputy at which point they were nose to nose, and the driver put the vehicle in reverse and attempted to back up and continue to flee. As the driver backed up facing north parallel to 56 North, deputy pulled forward and placed his brush guard against the passenger side of the vehicle in an attempt to pin the vehicle and keep the driver from fleeing again. The driver began to try to drive away, at which point the deputy pushed the vehicle into the ditch. The vehicle quickly pulled out of the ditch and began traveling on happiness Dr. and deputy continued to pursue the vehicle. The vehicle finally stopped on the shoulder of Enterprise St. and the driver and passenger bailed out and fled on foot in different directions. Deputy pursued the driver on foot and commanded him to the ground numerous times and he failed to stop, then finally gave up and he was taken into custody. The driver stated he was trying to get home to his child, and he did not have a license. Once in the back seat of the patrol unit, he asked if he could apologize for what he did and was advised that it was too late to apologize. There was a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person when being walked to the patrol unit, so he was asked for blood and denied. K9mwas deployed in an attempt to locate the passenger, but the scent was lost. The driver was transported to EmCo Jail.

Deputies responded to Hwy 297 in reference to a domestic dispute. Offender stated his girlfriend would not let him spend time with his children and was talking to other people disrespecting him. Offender admitted to throwing several belongings out on the porch of the residence due to none of the family wanting him at the residence. Contact was then made with complainant who stated she was cleaning up when offender began to laugh then began to scream and get hysterical. C/p stated offender threw the items on the porch and destroyed the bedroom. Offender was then asked to leave the residence for the night and he agreed. Deputies waited for offender to leave and went back in service. Deputies returned to the residence apprx. 30 mins. later due to offender returning and attempting to break in by breaking a window. Contact was made with offender and advised him that he was under arrest and he became tense and refused to place his hands behind hs back. Deputies began struggling with offender when he lost balance and fell to the ground and was handcuffed. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

July 4

Deputies met with complainant on Hwy 1 North bypass where she stated a vehicle attempted to speed up and pass her then lost control and hit the ditch. Deputies made contact with driver and passengers who stated the driver attempted to pass c/p and overcorrected, causing him to exit the roadway and enter the ditch and strike a drainage culvert. Driver and passengers were treated and released by EMS for minor injuries.

July 5

Deputies responded to Speedway Loop I reference to a structure fire.

Deputy was dispatched to Harmon Rd. for a vehicle unlock. Vehicle was unlocked without damages.

Deputies were dispatched to Humpback St. in reference to a domestic dispute.

July 6

Deputies were dispatched to Long Bay Dr. in reference to nuisance animals. Deputy met with complainant who stated several dogs went into her yard and were attempting to get into her pig pen and attack her pig. C/p advised this has been ongoing issues with the dogs attacking her animals. C/p was referred to Animal Control and 911 was requested to have them contact c/p.

Deputy talked with complainant on June 30 where she stated the night prior, her neighbor was driving his ATV very fast on Huckleberry Rd. and ran over her chihuahua. The neighbor told c/p that he didn’t’ mean to run over her dog and if she took it to the vet, he would cover the bill. C/p took her dog to the vet and he had a broken pelvic and broken leg and the bill was $316.64. When c/p went to let the suspect know, he stated he was broke and couldn’t pay anything. Deputy told c/p he would do a report but she would have to take it to Magistrate Court to see if anything could be done.

Deputies were dispatched to Owen Bailey Rd. in reference to aggravated assault.

Deputy met with complainant at ECSO where she stated her tag was missing off her company car.

Deputy was dispatched to Canoochee-Garfield Rd. in reference to a vehicle in the ditch. While enroute, deputy was advised that first responders were on scene and there was no one in or around the vehicle. Upon arrival, there were visible skid marks that showed the path of travel, spanning 396 feet on and off the road. It was visible the vehicle had been crashed due to major damage that will result in the totaling of the vehicle. Deputy was made aware of who the owner of the vehicle was and he was nowhere to be found, but arrived while deputy was measuring the distance of the skid marks. The owner advised the accident happened around lunch time as he was leaving Canoochee when a vehicle crossed over into his lane and he lost control and went off the road and went in the trees. While speaking with the owner, deputy was advised that he did not call anyone as he did not think it was a big deal. The vehicle was recovered and transported to the owner’s residence at his wishes. Driver was advised that anytime an accident results in more than $500 in damages, he must notify officials even if it’s a single vehicle accident.

Deputy met with complainant on N. Coleman St. in reference to an incident that was said to have occurred on RJ Holder Rd. C/p stated the suspect had taken a set of wheels from the location and they had been left in the care of a witness who resides on RJ Holder Rd. Deputy was further advised that the witness had been led to believe through a third party that c/p had given the wheels to another witness and suspect was to retrieve the wheels from the residence. Upon further investigation while on scene, contact was made with the witness who the wheels had been left in the care of and he stated the wheels had been loaned to him by the c/p.

July 7

Deputies were alerted to Christopher Dr. in reference to a wanted person who had active arrest warrants. Contact was made with the suspect and he was detained for two bench warrants through the state court and transported to EmCo Jail.

Deputies responded to Lambs Bridge Rd. in reference to a domestic dispute. Deputies were advised that the incident ensued over a water bill that was to be divided among all three parties and the complainant stated he had been threatened by suspect.

Deputy met with complainant at ECSO about a lost tag.

Deputies, along with EMS, were dispatched to S. Railroad Ave. in Oak Park in reference to a possible drug overdose. Victim was found inside the residence on the bedroom floor unresponsive. Deputies were told that the victim had smoked or shot up meth. Deputy administered Narcan with negative results. EMS personnel performed CPR and transported victim to EMC. A search warrant was executed for the residence.

Deputy took a report regarding missing/stolen tag.

July 8

Deputy took a report regarding a civil dispute on Buckeye Rd. Complainant stated she took her vehicle to offender’s house for it to be worked on and borrowed his trailer to move to some items. C/p stated when she went to get her car back, she confronted offender about items that were missing from her vehicle and he stated he had not taken anything. C/p stated offender was saying that she stole items off his trailer and would not return the vehicle until his items were returned. C/p stated there had not been any work done to her vehicle and there was no discussion of payment.

Deputy made contact with complainant via phone from ECSO in reference to a threat made by alleged suspect. C/p stated suspect contacted her and made bodily harm threats to her.

A golf cart was found abandoned on Davis Rd. All attempts were made to identify and locate the owner. The golf cart was removed by a towing service.

Deputies responded to Wilson Rd. in reference to a domestic. Complainant stated he and offender are married but sleep in separate rooms and the dispute started the night prior when they were texting back and forth and somehow offender’s number got blocked form c/p’s phone and she went into his room angry and began fussing at him. The next morning, c/p went to offender’s room to ask for a BC powder that he gave her and she began arguing with him again. Offender stated the dispute is all over a trust issue c/p has for her because she cheated on him a few weeks back and c/p blocked her from his phone. Both parties stated no physical contact was made.

July 9

Deputies responded to Pelican Rd. in reference to a civil dispute. Complainant stated he bought a handy house from his nephew several months ago but had no way to move it and he arrived to pick it up and offender would not allow him to get it. Offender stated the handy house was not her ex-husband’s/c/p’s nephew’s, to sell because she bought it.

Deputies received a call from complainant who stated he was riding his bike to the store when his neighbor’s dogs started chasing him and while he was trying to get away from them, he ran his bike in the ditch and as the dogs got closer, he threw his bike at them to keep them from attacking him. C/p stated his neighbor came out yelling at him stating that if he hurt his dogs, he would kill him. Deputies responded to Huckleberry Rd. in reference to a forced entry burglary. The front of the residence was found forced open with damage to the door frame and locking mechanism and it appeared to have been pushed or kicked in. $400 cash was found to be missing from a security box and $15 in change.

July 10

Deputies responded to Savannah St. in reference to a dispute. Complainant stated the dispute between her and her roommate ensued over offender drinking c/p’s sodas. C/p offender became irate and kicker her bedroom door in.
