Clay Lawrence of Emanuel County Institute (ECI) has earned national recognition after winning the National FFA Agricultural Proficiency Award in Diversified Agricultural Production at the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Thursday, Oct. 22.
The Diversified Agricultural Production Award recognizes FFA members who develop agricultural skills and experience through their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs). These projects allow students to apply classroom instruction to real world agricultural operations while preparing for future careers.
Through working on local farms and managing his own livestock operation, Lawrence has gained experience in several areas of agriculture, including beef cattle, sheep and hay production, custom combine harvesting and agricultural business practices.
Lawrence is supported by his parents, Shannon and Carol Lawrence, and hos FFA advisors, Tori Pellerin, Madison Nimmons and Justin Coleman.
“I could not be more proud of this young man and all the tireless work he puts into the Georgia FFA,” said Tori Pellerin. “I am honored to be his Ag teacher and FFA advisor.”
