The ECI Middle School baseball team finished the season last week with a record of 11-6 with just one loss in their side of the region.

ECI was the number one seed on their side of the region and traveled to Lyons to face Toombs Co., the number one seed from the other side of the region in the region championship game.

The Bulldogs held onto a 3-2 lead over Toombs in the fourth inning. Toombs pulled away in the latter innings to take the win 13-3 and the region championship

To advance to the championship game the Bulldogs took care of Bryan Co. 19-9 in the first round of the region playoffs.

Leading hitters for the game were Davis Johnson with 5 hits, Brayden Rich with 4 hits including 3 doubles. Johnson was also the winning pitcher of record, closing out the final 3 innings.

The second round had the Bulldogs hosting Metter. They defeated the Tigers 9-4 to advance to the championship game.

Leading at the plate against Metter was Ab March with 3 hits.

Judson Underwood started the game on the mound for ECI striking out 5 Tigers in his 4 innings of work. Johnson relieved Underwood shutting down the Tigers for the rest of the game.

The Bulldogs will have to replace some good players moving up to the varsity next season, but have a good nucleus of players returning for another championship run.
