The Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its Annual Conference at the Sonesta Hotel in Duluth on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27, 2024. Several members of the East Fall Line Region attended the conference and banquets that were held. Out of the 35 chapters in the GASSAR, four Chapters received the Education Outreach Streamer that will hang from each Chapters Flag: Brier Creek, Little River, Robert Forsyth and the Wiregrass Chapters. The Education Outreach Streamer is presented to chapters that report that their programs, outside of regular meetings, reached 1,000 or more students and adults during the calendar year. EFLR Chapters receiving the Distinguished Chapter Awards were Brier Creek (Screven County), Four Rivers Patriots (Vidalia), Mill Creek (Statesboro), Wiregrass (Swains-boro) and the Little River (Central East Region - Thomson). This award is presented to chap-ters who respond affirmatively in at least nine of the ten programs in the contest year. The programs are membership recruitment and retention, chapter reporting, Flag respect, BOM attendance, scheduling regular meetings, community involvement, and youth program activ-ity. EFLR Chapters receiving the Georgia Society Membership Award were Brier Creek, Four Rivers Patriots, Patrick Carr Rangers (Waynesboro), Wiregrass, and Little River (Central East). To receive this award, a chapter must have a 90% renewal of its membership and submit its yearly dues to the Society Secretary by the deadline. The Wiregrass Chapter was also honored to accept the SAR Medal of Appreciation with an Oak Leaf Cluster for Jane Grier Durden as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in grateful recogni-tion of her outstanding service to the Sons of the American Revolution. On Sunday morning, a memorial service was held for Compatriots that passed away during 2023. As each name was read, a bell was rung. The Wiregrass Chapter had three deceased members: Willie Gunn, Henry Wilder Smith, Jr. and James (Jim) Ebe Daughtry.
