Mr. Earl Newsome, 82, of Kite, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, October 15, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Brent Fails, Bill Hackle, Kelly Thigpen, Vance Adams, Raymond Wilson and Jeff Coursey.
Earl was born January 24, 1941, in Kite on a small farm, to the late Elton Newsome and Eula Mae Way Newsome. He went to work in Treutlen County as a deputy sheriff as a young man. Shortly after, Earl went into trucking which became his passion. He loved driving and working on trucks and long hauls out to California. When Earl wasn’t driving trucks, he was talking about them. He loved his sports cars, but more than anything, he loved his family. Earl’s grandson Justin held a very special place in his heart. The last years of his life were spent with his faithful companion and best friend, Buddy (his dog). Mr. Newsome is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Martha Lee Newsome.
Mr. Newsome is survived by his son, Sammy (Lynn) Newsome of Kite; daughters, Angela (Todd) Griffin of Adel and Tammy Trujillo of Metter; grandchildren, Justin Newsome, Blake Morrison, Tyler Morrison, Jacob Griffin, Dakota Edenfield (Megan), Devin Edenfield and Alex Trujillo; sister, Annette Jenkins of Adel; several great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Buddy; and many friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
