Eagles open region play

Posted

For baseball fans, historians, and purists, when David Emanuel and Thomas Jefferson play this season, they will get to see Billy Martin and Ty Cobb play on the same field. On Tuesday, March 19, the Eagles opened region play in Louisville against rival Thomas Jefferson. The Eagle's Brody Fleming engaged in a pitching duel with the Jaguar's Ty Cobb. Through five innings the contest remained scoreless, until Thomas Jefferson pushed a run across. The Jaguars added additional runs in the sixth inning to prevail 6-0. Fleming struck out eight Jags in a strong performance and senior Jay Carter and freshman Layton Terwilliger finished the game on the mound. Jay Carter led the Eagles offensively with a 2-3 effort followed by Sailor Powell and Brody Fleming with each collecting a hit.
