The David Emanuel Academy varsity tennis team traveled to the Rome Tennis Center on April 17- 18 to compete in the GIAA State Individual Tennis Tournament. The Eagle participants were Emma Proctor, Kylie Bell, Riley Griner, Peyton Lee and Jessie Moore. Although the Eagles fought hard, Emma Proctor and Kylie Bell were defeated in the first round by Southwest Georgia Academy, and Riley Griner was defeated by GCA. Peyton Lee and Jesse Moore were victorious through several matches that allowed them to advance to the semifinals where they unfortunately lost to Brentwood Academy. However, Peyton and Jesse finished strong by placing 3rd in State in the boy’s individual tennis division.
On April 25, the Eagles traveled to Macon to the Randy Stephens Tennis Center to compete in the State Team Tennis Tournament. The varsity girls’ team fell short to Augusta Prep School 1-4. The varsity boy’s team fought hard against Monsignor Donovan but ended with a 2-3 match score where two of the matches they lost were in a third set tie-breaker. It was a great season for the Eagles!
