Durden Bank employees celebrate ‘Wishbone Day’

Durden Banking Company’s Swainsboro Branch celebrated Wishbone Day on Wednesday, May 6, joining a global effort to raise awareness for Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), commonly known as brittle bone disease.

The observance held special meaning for the branch this year. Employees wore bright yellow shirts in honor of six year old Harlow Mae, the great niece of Durden Bank employee Beth Jennings. Harlow, who loves the color yellow, has already suffered 14 bone fractures as a result of OI.

Wishbone Day is recognized worldwide each May 6 to highlight this rare genetic condition, which causes bones to break easily and can affect individuals in a variety of ways. The day aims to increase understanding of OI, celebrate the resilience of those living with it, and promote inclusion in schools, workplaces, and communities.

By proudly wearing yellow, the official color of Wishbone Day, Durden Bank employees showed their support for Harlow and for everyone affected by OI, helping bring visibility to a condition that is often misunderstood.
