Emanuel Medical Center announced Monday that Nicky Drake has been named Interim Director for Emanuel County Emergency Medical Services effective Monday, October 18, 2021. Drake will replace Courtney Terwilliger, who has assumed the role of Emanuel County Public Safety Coordinator.

Drake has been the Assistant EMS Director for the last four years under the leadership and Director Courtney Terwilliger. Drake is an experienced and well-respected EMS leader and paramedic, having served with EMS for 24 years. Nicky is a graduate of the Georgia EMS Leadership program and is a Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer. He serves on the Regional EMS Council and is chairman of the Regional Trauma Advisory sub-committee.

Drake will continue to work closely with Terwilliger in his new role as Public Safety Coordinator. Terwilliger will continue to be involved with Emanuel Medical Center and lead the work on a $350,000 grant designed to improve care for critically injured trauma patients in rural Georgia. Terwilliger has served as our EMS Director for 43 years. Terwilliger holds many titles throughout the state to help improve our state and county. He was recently reappointed to the Georgia Trauma Commission by Speaker of the House David Ralston.

EMS is excited for both Drake and Terwilliger to continue to move our county forward in the Emergency Medical Services and Public Safety Services.
