The Emanuel County Board of Education voted unanimously at a called meeting on Thursday, March 7, to approve the appointment of Dr. Denise Warnock as the next Emanuel County School Superintendent. Dr. Warnock is replacing retiring Superintendent Scotty W. Hattaway and will assume her duties on April 1, 2024.

Dr. Warnock brings a wealth of experience and a proven commitment to Emanuel County Schools. She has dedicated her entire educational career to public education in service to the students and families of Emanuel County. “I am honored to be appointed the next Superintendent of Emanuel County Schools,” says Dr. Warnock. “To ensure our community’s prosperity and promote its growth, a viable school system is essential. The students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community at large have been an integral part of my life. As such, I am fully invested in the successful future of our school district and community. As I reflect on my career, it is clear to me how fortunate I have been to gain invaluable knowledge and expertise from my colleagues. Their varying perspectives and professional input have guided my abilities to think critically and solve problems effectively. Over time and experience, I have found one fundamental tenet common to every impactful educator: every child is teachable and capable of learning. I sincerely believe that the influence of an educator hinges on whether that educator truly believes they can make a difference in every student’s life. I am confident that every student can experience growth through personalized instruction under the guidance of a teacher who has faith in that student’s success. In order for teachers to do their jobs effectively, they and our other employees need school and district leaders who provide and ensure a safe and secure learning environment for students and a safe and secure work environment for adults. I look forward to continuing to work with the ECS Board of Education, our system’s educators, parents, and community members to capture Emanuel County School’s vision of strengthening our community one student at a time.”

Dr. Warnock is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Emanuel County Schools. A native of South Georgia, she has proudly called Swainsboro-Emanuel County home for most of her adult life. She and her husband, Ken Warnock, have been married for 27 years and have a son, Cameron, and daughter-in-law, Megan, who live in Woodstock, Georgia.
