Mr. Donnie Elmer Price, 73, of Swainsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Scott Health and Rehab in Adrian following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverends Louis Pearce and Mark Wiggins officiating. Interment followed at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to service.

Pallbearers were Shannon Lawrence, Seneca Lawrence, Jamie Henry, Tal Henry, Mike Henry, Ricky Winfrey. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Gentlemen's Hunting Club.

Mr. Price was born May 31, 1950, to the late Elmer Tom Price and Mary Evelyn Peebles. He always enjoyed family time at the barn where he kept his antiques. Mr. Price loved the Georgia Bulldogs, fishing, and cooking. He was well known for his crab stew and tartar sauce. Mr. Price worked at the Georgia Forestry Commission, retiring from there after 30+ years of service, and was the Sr. Chief Ranger from 1973-2006. He was an active member of Canoochee Baptist Church. Donnie earned a Public Service Award from Swainsboro Jaycees in 1982, a Public Service Award from Swainsboro Exchange Club in 1993 and Appreciation Award from Kiwanis Club in 1995. He was a member of Future Farmers of America where he was named Honorary Chapter Farmer in 1981. Donnie was also a member of the National FFA Organization and Georgia Peace Officers Association and was a Reserved Deputy for the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department. He received a certificate of appreciation for Forestry Field Day in 1994 from the District Georgia Forestry Commission. Donnie was also a member of the Gideons for many years.

Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Gail Price of Swainsboro; sons, Joel Price of Metter and Mack (Liz) Price of Swainsboro; daughter, Christy (Todd) Ellington of Swainsboro; brother, Johnny Price of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Trey, Colton, Cora, Bryer, Anna, Charleigh and Jack; and many friends.
