Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs Paul Lawrence, Ph.D., held a town hall meeting Tuesday, August 11, at American Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt to discuss improvements to VA benefits and services. He addressed efforts to streamline VA forms, reduce the claims backlog, improve educational benefits and healthcare, and assist veterans transitioning from military service. Lawrence also discussed improvements to care in the community, which allows eligible veterans to receive healthcare from qualified non-VA providers. Lawrence said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Hon. Doug Collins is committed to ensuring qualified veterans and their dependents receive quality care in a timely manner.
The VA plans to hold additional town hall meetings across the country to hear directly from veterans and address their concerns.
