DEA breaks ground!

On Wednesday December 14, David Emanuel Academy officially broke ground for the reshaping of their campus. This historic event began just one month after the Eagles received their first State Championship title, making 2022 a truly remarkable and noteworthy year for Emanuel County’s only private institution. Architects from the local firm, James W. Buckley, and Associates, were present for Wednesday's groundbreaking ceremony, as well as Swainsboro native and Attorney, Sid Shepherd. A long-time supporter of the school, Shepherd presented a heart-warming speech that not only credited the school for its exceptional educational values but also commended Haylee Free for her improvements and unyielding advocacy of her students as Headmaster of DEA. Following Mr. Shepherd, Headmaster Free spoke on the history of the school and how although its physical features are changing with time, its love for its students and Christian values remain as strong as ever. Before the conclusion of her presentation, Free praised the great friends of David Emanuel Academy, DEA’s Board of Trustees, James W. Buckley and Associates, Pope Construction, Bill Vickery and Savannah Page, David Beecher, and Georgia First Bank, as well as every parent, teacher, and person who has donated their time or money to the school . "Their incredible support on so many levels has allowed DEA’s dreams to come to fruition. Today we add to DEA’s history an exceptional building that we know will continue to serve us well.” She began, “This building will allow for new administration offices, two new classrooms, the renovation of two new classrooms, expansion to our current cafeteria, as well as much needed enhanced parking. All of these things are needed to enhance security, confidentiality, fellowship and convenience.” She explained before concluding with an uplifting sentiment, “How blessed are we to take these steps forward? Tomorrow our goal is to keep marching forward with further plans designed by Buckley to add five more classrooms and a new fieldhouse. We are excited and ready. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all who have made this dream come true! There are many more beautiful days ahead for this academy. From the wise lips of my forever friend, alumni of DEA, School improvement Coordinator, Jill Powell, ‘May DEA continue to work for the Lord and may it be the beacon on the hill, always working to shine the love of our Lord amongst our communities.’”
