Cynthia Way Claxton, age 68, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. in the Richard N. Stanley Jr. Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Trent Boulineau officiating. Burial followed in Westview Cemetery. Family received friends Monday, April 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were John Wilder Page, Conrey Claxton, Sean Claxton, Jim Claxton, T.J. Page, Carl Claxton and Casey Wilds.
Cynthia was born December 23, 1957, in Kite. She earned a doctorate in education and retired from teaching after serving children and families for over 30 years in Johnson, Laurens and Emanuel counties. Cynthia was the proud wife to her husband Nelson Claxton; mother to Josh Claxton (Courtney); and grandmother to two of her biggest achievements, Scarlett Claxton and Victoria Claxton. She was a member of Rehoboth Church. Mrs. Claxton is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Wilder Way and Cleon Nell Norris Way.
Mrs. Claxton is survived by her husband, Nelson Claxton; son, Josh Claxton (Courtney); and grandchildren, Scarlett Claxton and Victoria Claxton, all of Wrightsville; sisters, Kate Page and Nancy Flanders; and brother, David Way (Elizabeth), all of Swainsboro.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
