Cubs to Tigers

Posted

Long before our varsity Tigers hit the bright lights of Friday night, they are young cubs feeling their way around. The recreation league and middle school does a great job of preparing these young men to be future Tigers. The final preparation stage is middle school. Coach Corey Chalker and his staff have done a phenomenal job with the middle school football program over the past few years.

SMS Coach Corey Chalker commented, “We have prided ourselves on attempting to develop mentally and physically tough football players from the sixth to eighth grades.” I have been coaching Swainsboro Middle School football for nine years and have been the head coach for the past four seasons. In the past four seasons, we have compiled a record of 23 wins and 11 losses. We have been fortunate enough to win three of the past four Middle Georgia Middle School Athletic Association championships.’ My coaching staff consists of Rosey Young, Cam Holloway, Pippin Davis, and Hunter Braswell. SMS is sending another stellar group of athletes to SHS, and I expect to see several make an impact this year as freshmen. Additionally, I’ve seen the middle school team practice this year, and another championship is within reach. The talent level is deep.”

Thank you, Coach Chalker and SMS, for all your hard work. It is not unnoticed. The Tiger legacy will continue and become stronger because of your efforts.

Before his passing Coach Shon Nobles assisted with the middle school program. We can never say thank you enough to Coach Shon and all the things he did for our schools and community.
