New funding will support the expansion and redesign of the Emergency Department and the Emanuel Nursing Home.

Crider Foods, the leading food packing partner for shelf-stable chicken, pork, beef, and other proteins, announces a donation of $250,000 to Emanuel Medical Center (EMC) through the Georgia HEART Program. The HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) Program works to maximize the success of the innovative rural hospital tax credit and to ensure the continuation and improvement of essential healthcare services for rural communities throughout the state.

“Crider, Inc. has been steadfast in their support of our hospital and community,” said Damien Scott, CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “Their generous contributions have not only helped us grow to better meet the needs of our community, but they have had a ripple effect that extends far beyond the walls of our hospital. We are grateful for Crider, Inc.’s partnership. Together, we are building a healthier future for our community.”

Donations received through the Georgia HEART program have a profound impact on Emanuel Medical Center and the offerings it makes available to the community. Funding has historically allowed EMC to add colonoscopy services and an infusion center, as well as update essential medical and surgical equipment. The latest funds received from Crider Foods will help support two substantial projects for the hospital with the redesign of the Emergency Department and the expansion of the Emanuel Nursing Home. Improvements to the Emergency Department will include a remodel of the existing area, as well as the construction of additional space to increase capacity, and improve efficiency and patient experience. The Emanuel Nursing Home expansion will provide additional spaces for activity and family gathering, physical therapy, and administrative offices. Continued financial support, such as that Crider Foods has contributed, helps EMC make a lasting impact on the lives of those served in the community.

“Crider Foods is made great by the incredible people in Emanuel County and its surrounding communities. We know that supporting the invaluable services Emanuel Medical Center provides will help ensure that our community continues to thrive,” said Mark Howell, President of Crider Foods. “We are honored to partner with HEART to help improve and expand their ability to deliver world-class emergency services and senior care to our friends and neighbors.”
