Two contested municipal elections and two referendums should mean an easy experience for voters in Swainsboro and Stillmore on election day, November 7. Voters in Swainsboro’s District 5 will decide if newcomers Quantavius Foster or Dr. James Mason will unseat incumbent Councilman John E. Parker. District 2 Councilman Julian Sconyers and District 1 Councilman D.J. Davis are both without opposition. There are two special elections for Swainsboro voters to decide “yes or no”on Sunday package sales of alcohol and Sunday alcohol sales by the drink.
In Stillmore, longtime Mayor Regan Slater faces no challengers. The position of “At Large” City Councilmember is being sought by Eddie Dean Allen, Brad Daugherty and Colleen Slater Duckworth. Voters will select two of those contenders. Please remember that even though the ballots are simple and quick this year, the value and importance of your vote is what good government relies on.
